A Quick Letter to My Muse

Dear Muse,

Just a quick letter to you and God.  It's been a long day of traveling, but it was worth it because my oldest daughter met one of my most influential teachers and his wife.  I thought they would be a good fit because she is majoring in Literature, which was also his major.   In addition, their daughter also went to the same college my daughter will be attending.

My daughter is smart, beautiful, and outspoken.  Sometimes I worry that she is too outspoken and will cause problems for herself.  In my effort to make sure she didn't inherit my faults, I may have neglected to help her with some of her own.   I suppose she will have to learn, just as I did.  When I see her make mistakes, I worry about two things:

  1. I didn't teach her well; and
  2. She will make her life harder than it has be.
All I can do is continue to guide her when she is in the mood to listen, and to pray for her when she is not.   That's all any parent can do.

Thank you, Muse, for listening and for being on this trip with me.

Robert
