A Letter to My Enemy

The art of love is largely the art of persistence.

Albert Ellis

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”

Lao Tzu

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that
something else is more important than fear.”
Ambrose Redmoon

To my Enemy:
I’ve often written letters to my Muse, expressing my love for her.  I have no love for you, but I accept that you are part of the world, part of my life and part of me.  I don’t want to say that I hate you, because I don’t want to expend that kind of energy.  I also don’t want to hate part of myself.   I am very aware, however, that you hate me.  I am very aware that you want to destroy me.  I am very aware that you want to keep me from my work and my Purpose any you way can.
You want to keep me from my house on the beach.  You want to keep me from my Purpose.  You want to keep me from my happiness.  You want to keep me from making the world better, my life better and most of all, you want to keep me from being better.
Sometimes I fall for your tricks.  Lately, because of unexpected setbacks, my house on the beach seems further away not closer, as do many of my dreams.  And that’s what you want me to focus on, isn’t it?  The setbacks.  The disappointments.  Most of all you want me to be afraid.   You know that fear blocks or hinders joy, love and creativity.  You want me to believe my dreams will never come true.  But sometimes, instead of discouraging me, you just make me more resolved to work harder.
All I want to do now is everything I can to make my dreams happen.  Now I’m more determined than ever.  I’m not going to give into fear.  In fact, every time a fearful thought comes, I’m going to fight with a positive action that moves me towards my dreams. So here are the things I’m going to do in the next few days because they all align with my goals.
·      I’m going to keep reading The Brothers Karamazov.
·      I’m going to keep studying finance.
·      I’m going to keep writing blogs.
·      I’m going to keep doing my radio shows.
·      I’m going to start walking again.
·      I’m going to drop off some paperwork.
·      I’m going to get some rest.
·      I’m going to finish some pending projects.
·      I’m going to smile.
·      I’m going to take care of myself.
·      I’m going to wait patiently.
·      I’m going to do my work while I wait.
·      I’m going to advertise my resume writing skills and my book.
·      I’m going to Get Started.
·      I’m going to Keep Going.

You tried to keep me from my goals and you will try again.  I won’t underestimate you, but you shouldn’t underestimate me either.  My power, my determination and my Purpose come from a much more powerful source than you.  It comes directly from God and it comes from love.
