“The cure for anything is salt water -- sweat, tears,
or the sea.”
Isak Dinesen
“The beach is a place where a man can feel, he’s the
only soul in the world that’s real.”
Pete Townshend – The Sea
I didn’t write yesterday and I
thought about not writing today, but if I want to be a writer, I have to
write. Writing every day is
preferable. My goal for this month
is 25 more blogs. Normally what I
would do is wait a day or two, or more, and then start writing. That would already increase my pressure
and my stress level, so I think I’ll write tonight and reduce my stress. In addition, if I start early, then I
will also have a good buffer in case something unexpected occurs to prevent me
from writing.
Here’s another
idea: What if I wrote for the next
25 days? Then I would have
reached my goal early. Wouldn’t it
be nice to finish something early instead of waiting until the last
minute? One of the stressors of reaching
my goal of 150 was that I didn’t have a lot of time. If I finished a few days early, I would still write, but I
could work on other writing projects.
In fact, here are
some writing projects I would like to do:
·
Book reviews on Amazon or Goodreads
·
Movie reviews
·
Music reviews
·
Finishing my own books
·
Writing lesson plans
·
Newspaper or magazine articles
·
Humor
·
Poetry
·
Spiritual issues
·
Motivational content
·
Job search articles
I’d love to write
book reviews. I’ve read a lot of
books and it might be a nice way to sharpen my skills. There are also things I don’t want to
write about:
·
Politics
·
Anything scientific
·
Politics
·
Politics
·
Politics
I’ve never had a
political discussion go well, even when I tried using kindness or humor. I don’t enjoy the confrontational
aspects of it. Nor do I like how
people approach their political beliefs with a religious fervor mixed with fear
and rage. I agree with Chris Rock
when he says people who don’t listen and consider all sides are fools. I also agree with Rock when he says
that on some issues he’s conservative (crime) and others he’s liberal
(prostitution). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqESAufUAMQ (If bad language is offensive to
you, please don’t click the link.)
My point is that I don’t care to comment on political issues.
Perhaps I’m just
rambling here. Perhaps I really
don’t know what to say. What I do
know is what I want:
·
The house on the beach.
·
More money
·
More time to write and study
·
Better use of the time I’ve been given
·
The ability to keep my eyes on my goals
·
The ability to be a kinder and more loving person
·
The ability to take better care of myself
·
More gratitude
·
More writing
That’s all for
now. I am grateful that I can read
and write because those two gifts have helped me more times than I can
remember. I’m grateful to be
here. I’m grateful to be
alive. I’m grateful for all the
good things in my life. I would be
grateful for the bad things, too, but I can’t remember what they are. Mostly I’m grateful that every day I am
given the ability to Get Started and to Keep Going.
