Just to Get It Done

Mark Twain

Just to get it done.  That’s why I’m doing this blog.  Just to get it done.  I made a commitment to do 25 this month.  I plan to keep that commitment.  At the moment I don’t have anything specific to say yet; I just want to get it done.  Every step I take gets me closer to my goal.  Every day I’m in one of three places with regard to my goals:
1.     I’m in the same place I was yesterday.
2.     I’m further away.
3.     I’m a day closer.
The first two are so similar as to be almost indistinguishable.  I don’t know if being stuck is the same as moving backward, but neither one feels good.  I’ve spent a lot of years being stuck, choosing to stay stuck actually, and I prefer moving forward, even if it’s just a step a day.
Franklin Roosevelt said, "In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed;
it must be achieved."
Here is the truth about my life as I see it:  I am not free.  I am enslaved by a lack of money.  I am also in danger of being in bondage to bad habits and bad ways of thinking.  Some of those ways include the following:
·      Fear
·      Anger
·      Laziness
·      Procrastination
·      Lack of determination

And the only thing that can free me is action.  So that’s why I’m writing this blog.  This is me taking action.  This is me working.
In addition to working, I also want to focus on the positive.  Here are the things I want in the next year:
·      Money
·      The house on the beach
·      A list of published and successful books that I have written
So I need to keep my mind focused on what I want, not what I don’t want.  That is not an original thought, but it’s one that bears repeating.  I focus on what I want and I add to it a sense of urgency.  If I give myself a year to accomplish my goals, I need to start now, not in 10 or 11 months.
I need to start now.  I don’t have time to waste.
Speaking of time, it’s now time to go.  My daughter has a softball game and I promise her I’d be there.  So if this blog is shorter than usual, excuse me, but one other thing I want in the next year is for all my relationships to be healthy and mutually loving.  So, it’s time to Get Started and Keep Going…and get it done.
