A Good Night Letter to My Muse

Dear Muse,
It’s late and I’m tired and I’m actually falling asleep, but before I do, I want to say thank you for all you’ve done in my life.  Because of you I have a direction and a sense of purpose.   I feel more alive and more involved in life  in a way I haven’t felt in years.  Do you know what it’s like to wake up every morning and say, “Good morning!” to you?  It’s wonderful.
I did not expect things to go this way.  I thought I would struggle for the rest of my life.  I thought I would live only to please other people without ever following my heart.  I thought I would dream about writing without actually writing.  Now I’m writing…almost every day.  You know this because you have read every one of my works.  In fact, you inspired and guided them.  So thank you.
Thank you for helping me to get up early almost every morning.
Thank you for giving me ideas.
Thank you for your input on my work.
Thank you for taking an interest in my work.
Thank you for taking an interest in me.
That’s all I have to say tonight.  I could try to stay up and write more, but it probably wouldn’t be very good and I wouldn’t be taking very good care of myself.  You told me when I take care of myself, I’m taking care of you.  I do tend to do better work when I’m not exhausted.
So thank you again.  Thank you for reminding me to Get Started and to Keep Going.  Good night and amen!
